... of this short (95 pages) book. Mr Twit is scruffy looking with a big, big beard. You are under the impression that the author dislikes beards as he says that it is impossible to tell what a man with a hairy beard looks like, or perhaps he would rather you did not know! Mr Twit's beard is especially dirty and full of old bits of food, such as tinned sardine, cornflake and Stilton cheese. To quote the book: 'Because of this, Mr Twit never went really hungry. Premium Review The Twits - Roald Dahl: a great family story (342 words)

I have loved this book since i was young and now my children like it too. Mr and mrs twit are horrid looking story characters, the story begins with lots of detail about mr twit and his horridly disgusting beard and all the moldy horrid food that never quite made it to his mouth. Mr and mrs twit are horrid people but very funny, they spend all day playing mean tricks on each other. Mrs twit hides her glass eye ball in mr twits drink, and wholst cooking spagetti for his dinner she puts worms in to his dinner. Mr twit puts a frog in mrs twits bed. The twits love to make bird pie, with real birds, how disgusting. They cover there tree ...  Read the complete review

Now I'm not the world's greatest Roald Dahl fan but I do really like some of his short stories, although I have seen a lot of the longer ones on film when I was little. I first read the book I am going to review today, The Twits, when I was about nine or so and really enjoyed it. For nostalgia reasons I decided the other that I would re-read the story and after plucking it from my brothers book shelf I settled down to read it on the sofa. The book is like most of Roald Dahl's offerings rather simple and easy to read. The story is rather vibrant and entertaining and the covers of the book can merely contain the colourful characters bursting to get out. The book ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Twits - Roald Dahl: What a Silly Name for a Book! (1045 words)

*Introduction* Once you’ve read one Roald Dahl book, you want to read more. “George’s Marvellous Medicine” quickly turned into “The Twits” in a brief hailstorm of Dahl children’s stories. Better still is that I’ve discovered that there are plenty of titles like “The Enormous Crocodile” and “The Magic Finger” that I’ve yet to try. One shouldn’t forget that there is a wide range of titles appealing to all cross sections of readers by Dahl. These include further books for younger children, books for older readers like “The BFG” and “The Witches”, picture books like “Dirty Beasts” and “Revolting Rhymes”, plays like “The BFG: Plays for Children” and finally, teenage ...  Read the complete review

I loved reading Roald Dahl books as a child and even now I still enjoy them. Roald Dahl has the skill to write books which appeal to both children and adults. He writes with a unique style of wit, wicked humour and usually some disgusting parts thrown in as well. The Twits is a fine example of his writing and still captures children’s imaginations today. The Plot ============ The main characters in this book are Mr and Mrs Twit, as you can probably guess from their names they are not the smartest folk on the block. Mr Twit is a very hairy faced man, hair sprouts from his nose, his ears and all over his face. That in itself is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Twits - Roald Dahl: FRUMPTIOUS FREAKS & MUGGLE-WUMPS (748 words)
by - written on 15/10/04 (Very useful, 717 readings)
Rating:

“Mr Twit was a very hairy-faced man. The whole of his face except for his forehead, his eyes and his nose was covered with thick hair. The stuff even sprouted in revolting tufts out of his nostrils and ear-holes” What a disgusting couple Mr and Mrs Twit are, they never wash and they detest children. They are never happier than when they are playing tricks on each other, Mrs Twit thinks it hilarious to take out her glass eye and hide it in Mr Twits beer, Mr Twit finds it equally funny to put a frog in Mrs Twits bed and tell her it’s the dreaded sharp toothed skillywiggler – and that it will bite off her toes. Maybe the skillywiggler incident merited the repost ...  Read the complete review
