The Uncanny X-Men is a great collection of comic's. The X-Men is mainly about Professor Xavier and his X-Men fighting all sorts of problems from bad mutants to anti mutant groups. At the moment there are 500+ comics in the series with many off shoot's, separate graphics novels and spin off's. This collection of comic's is so vast but can be read on marvels digital comic service, http://marvel.com/digitalcomics/ . There are so many so it makes it impossible to buy and read them all. These are the UNCANNY X-MEN………….. A team that Charles set up to go and rescue the original x-men when a living island kidnaps them. This is the new team he gathers to save them. The X-Men are definitely one of comics better known franchises. People seem to know quite a lot about this band of Mutants, and with the film doing as well as it did, other people are eager to find out. But seeing as the ‘original’ comic books are bogged down with events and characters from the past spanning about 7 different individual series there is now a new way to quench the thirst for X-men. Ultimate X-Men. Like Ultimate Spider-Man before it this book redefines the characters for today’s modern world, and very different it is too. This is a review of Ultimate X-men issue 1 but there was no group for it so I am placing it under Uncanny X-men. This has got to be one of the best first issues ever and like spider-girl the key lies in nostalgia and the transportation of characters you know well to different situations ala Elseworlds and What If. The artwork is stunning and ranks right up there with anything King Kirby could have done were he alive. The new costumes are way cool and resemble those of the movie far more.
