Advantages: Quick and easy read

Disadvantages: No substance and very little story

This is the sixth in the ongoing series about shallow, shoe-fanatic, Betsy Taylor who, having been killed in a road accident, wakes to discover she is a vampire - and no ordinary vampire at that - no, Betsy is Queen of the Vampires.

The first of these very slight and mildly amusing books iwas Undead and Unwed, which I have to admit, I enjoyed. The idea of a Sex-in-the-City type becoming a vampire had potential and the gags, though not laugh-out-loud, made me smile. But that is about it. There was enough humour and story to complete the first couple of books but the subsequent books have not only got thinner and thinner in terms of number of pages, but the gags as well as the storylines have also become thinner. I'm afraid I found Betsy altogether too shallow and two dimensional. In fact, none of the characters in the books seem to have any flesh on their bones.

Anyway, if I haven't put you off by now, let me give more details about Undead and Uneasy.

Betsy is planning her wedding to Eric Sinclair her vampire lover and as planning a wedding whether you're alive or undead is no picnic, her friends have renamed her Bridezilla. Then Eric disappears and Betsy becomes decidedly uneasy. And that's about it.

These books are supposedly for adults but I would have thought the target market for these would be more Young Adult or teenagers.

There is a seventh book in the series which I haven't got around to reading yet and I've a feeling I probably won't bother.

In essence, if you like trite and mindless stories of very little substance or characterisation, you'll maybe enjoy this series, otherwise give it a miss.

Summary: Unless you are completely hooked on this series, give this one a miss.
