Dogger - Shirley Hughes
by pmcds - written on 19/08/08 (Very useful, 76 readings)
Rating:
Shirley Hughes, so perhaps she did the illustrations as well as writing the story. Hughes has written around 20 or so other books. I have yet to read any of them, but I am sure atg some point soon I will spot one and get it for my son. The book is currently available from amazon.co.uk for £6.29. The original picture has been kept for the front cover, as I imagine the illustrations inside would all be too. In conclusion, Dogger is a lovely book that ll families should have for their kids. It was one of my favourites and is now one of my son s, too. My mum read it to him the other day at bedtime. I was in the room, too, and I have tos ay, I almost dropped off to sleep. ...

Shirley Hughes in general
by Karenwilson - written on 07/04/01 (Very useful, 93 readings)
Rating:
Shirley Hughes the author has a great ability in capturing life through the eyes of young children. This book takes you through little stories of Alfie and Annie Rose. Alfie in this book has just turned five and although it does not say how old his sister is I would probably put her at the age of eighteen months. *** Breakfast *** The story begins explaining how Alfie has helped Annie out of her cot and down the stairs. Alfie walking holding on to the banister and his sister sliding down the stairs backwards. Their dad is already having his breakfast and both children go to the table to join him. Alfie being more grown up now can have a china bowl which has bears ...
