For those of you not familiar with the Usbourne Farmyard Tales range and its may spin offs which include cookery books, sticker books, jigsaw puzzles and a whole host of other types of books which have also been translated into English, Spanish, French and Welsh, the series focuses on life on Apple Tree Farm. The human inhabitants of the farm are Mrs Boot, the farmer, her children Poppy and Sam, their father Mr Boot and a dog called Rusty. Apple Tree Farm is no ordinary farm and the Naughty Sheep is no ordinary story. As I live in a rural location my grandchildren have access to lots of farm animals including cows and sheep so when I saw this book The Naughty Sheep I knew it would appeal to them both. It is a 16 paged paper backed book written by Heather Amery and illustrated by Stephen Cartwright. Published by Usborne. The RRP is £3.99 but can be bought cheaper at Tesco's and on line. ISBN 0746060483 I like the fact that they have been written with the help of a language expert to ensure that young children can succeed in developing important reading skills.
