Camping Out by Heather Amery and Stephen Cartwright is one of twenty titles in the Usborne Farmyard Tales mini edition series. All of the stories revolve around Apple Tree Farm and the family that live there; Mr and Mrs Boot, Poppy and Sam and their dog Rusty. In each book the children have an adventure joined by the rest of the family or some of the other characters who live in the village. In this story Poppy and Sam decide that they want to go camping. the idea comes from some holidaymakers asking if they can camp in a field at Apple Tree farm. The Christmas Story (Usborne Bible Tales) - Heather Amery

Premium Review Learning the true meaning of Christmas (910 words)

Rating:

Christmas, and rightly so, but I think it is important that they realise that Christmas is not just about eating turkey and unwrapping presents. The Christmas Story, written by Heather Amery and published by Usborne Books, is the best book I have ever seen for giving children their first insight into the birth of Christ as it tells the story in such a loveable and interesting way. Mary and Joseph are depicted exactly how a child would imagine them to look with Joseph in his plain robes and Mary wearing her blue gown, this is important because children will probably have heard a little about Mary and Joseph and the beautiful illustrations in this book will help them to ...

The Christmas Story (Usborne Bible Tales) - Heather Amery

Premium Review Getting ready for Christmas (737 words)
by juicy_lucy - written on 26/11/07 (Very useful, 173 readings)
Rating:

`The Christmas Story With Christmas fast looming, I am digging out all my versions of the Christmas story to read to a group of young children. I like books which tell the story in a simple but informative way and which have interesting pictures and not too much confusing text. This book is one of those which fits the bill perfectly, and having used Usborne Bible tales on numerous occasions, it will be making another appearance. The story is written in such a way that there is a line of very simple text at the top of each page, and underneath each picture is a more detailed explanation of what is happening in the picture. There are ideas in which an adult ...
