The Silly Sheepdog - Farmyard Tales Sticker Storybooks
by historywitch - written on 12/07/07 (Very useful, 158 readings)
Rating:
We are a big fan of the Usbourne Farmyard Tales in this house, so when I found this one at the bottom of a pile in my favourite bookshop I was pretty pleased with myself. Books and stickers are my 2 year olds favourite things, so something that combines them both is always a winner! ***The Series*** The Usbourne Farmyard Tales are a series of simple stories for young children and first readers. Set in Apple Tree Farm with the farmer Mrs Boot and her two children Poppy and Sam, it introduces children to the farmyard and the animals that live there. Beautifully illustrated in the ‘Usbourne style’ (anyone who owns one of the ‘First Thousand Words’ series will know ...

Usborne Bible Tales: The Easter Story - Heather Amery

5 years ago when my grandaughter was about 3 I brought a copy of The Easter Story which is part of the Usborne Bible Tales series. As a Christian I think it is very important to teach children the true meaning of our now commercialised religious holidays. Now she is 9 we still like to get this book out around Easter and because she is now able to read for herself she enjoys not only the pictures but the text as well. The Easter Story tells the events that surrounded the end of Jesus life from his trial through the crucifixion and ends with his resurrection. It is told in a very simple way but is accurate with the facts without being too explicit about the nastier side ...

The easter Story A few weeks ago, I was teaching the Easter story to a group of young children, and being unable to find an appropriate book, went on a mission to find something. I wanted a book which told the story in a simple but informative way and which had interesting pictures without any pictures which could distress them in any way. Fortunately, I found this book, which suited my purposes exactly. The story is written in such a way that there is a line of very simple text at the top of each page, and underneath each picture is a more detailed explanation of what is happening in the picture. There are ideas in which an adult can help their child to ...
