This is another book we have taken from the library. On our frequent trips to the library I always try to find a couple of simple books with touchy feely bits in for my 11 month old, and this is one I chose this week. It's part of the popular 'That's Not My...' books and in this case it's not his lion. These books are very simple and very popular and I think there are many many different versions to choose from and each has different textures on each page for your child to feel. This one is all about a lion. As with all of these books, the story starts on the front page and begins with: 'That's not my lion...it's nose is too ... Read the complete review

I came across the Usborne Touchy-Feely books recently, while in WH Smiths. The books are designed for young children (1-3 years), and use a variety of materials to provide a different tactile experience on every page. There is a collection of these books, each one concerning a little white mouse's quest to find something that belongs to him. --------------- CONTENT --------------- In this case, the little mouse is searching for his lion. Front cover: "That's not my lion... its nose is too fuzzy." ~~~~~~~~ The cover is dark blue in colour, and features a yellow lion with a brown ... Read the complete review

My youngest son is fast acquiring a selection of Usborne Books' 'That's Not My...' stories to add to his own home library. For anybody that hasn't come across one of these lovely little board books (and surely all parents of toddlers must have) each book features a certain animal or item with a particular characteristic being highlighted by being 'touchy feely'. There are an incredible range of stories in this series and it is still growing, with seasonal editions introduced such as 'That's Not My Santa'! My son has three of these books; 'That's Not My Train', 'That's Not My Bunny' and 'That's Not My Lion' which is the subject of this review. All of the books ... Read the complete review

I won't write a description of this book, as that has already been covered elsewhere. But while my son has a selection of books from this fantastic series, I wanted to give this one a special mention as it is clearly his favourite. He's only 4 months old at the moment, but we've been showing him books since he was born, and this one attracted his interest very early on. He's not old enough to reach for the textures himself yet, but the bright, clear and colourful images hold his interest for a surprisingly long time (well he's only little, so a few seconds is a long time for him!). When we take his fingers and show him where to touch you can see the expression ... Read the complete review
