I was walking through my local WH Smith's children's section in search of books that would appeal to a young child when, while passing the Usborne's promotional bookshelf, a book's title caught my eye: "THAT'S NOT MY PONY... ITS MANE IS TOO FLUFFY." Pony? Fluffy? This called for a closer look! I saw that the cover featured the drawing of a pony, with a mane made of a tuft of (synthetic) hair. I saw this series of books at an Usborne book fair and again soon after in WH Smiths. Being an avid reader myself I was keen to introduce my daughters to the delights of books and these looked like a great beginning. The books are aimed at toddlers aged 1 to 3 years, each has a main subject matter, such as penguins, dogs, kittens, fairies, dolls, trains and many others. In this instance the subject is ponies. Each page has a large illustration of a pony in a fairly simplified style and somewhere in the full pages of imagery there's a mouse.
