Utopia was written by Sir Thomas More in 1516 and is a book that is seen to quintessentially depict the renaissance era within England. The book describes a fictional island in the Atlantic Ocean and gave its title 'Utopia' to become the name for an ideal society or community. In many respects More's Utopia is a satirical piece of writing that seems to have been intended to reveal more about England during the period than it was about an idealistic community.
