Advantages: It has everything from romance to horror to philosophy!

Disadvantages: None

This is an amazing book! Rice writes with such beauty and passion for her characters and I found it hard to put this book down! It is mystical and beautiful and a great addition to any book shelf; one of my favourites.

For anyone who has seen the film version of Interview with the Vampire or read the book, this is Lestat's version of events in response to Louis'. The whole concept s just amazing and original and although I know that Anne Rice is a modern day writer, I really did feel like I was being transported back in time throughout Lestat's tale and really trusted Rice as a story teller.

She introduces us to so many interesting places and characters and concepts that this is almost a philosophical piece and a real thought provoker; it isn't just entertaining but also like a life lesson!

Lestat as a character is really a true rock star and I absolutely, especially as a rock music fan, love the idea that Lestat would wish to become a rock star in the modern age. He is a really endearing character, and despite being a vampire, you just can't help warming to him. He exposes us to a life which is so different to ours. He is also a vampire with morals and only drinks from humans whom he knows are bad people, but through out Anne Rice's books, there is this conflict between the struggle to survive as a vampire, but also not wanting to take life.

There are funny moments and also some really tragedies in Lestat's tale which make the novel very moving and emotional. It is particularly poignant to witness Lestat's friendship with Nick.

All in all, I feel it's a must read as it is not simply a horror novel, but one with great depth on a number of issues; it has everything.

Summary: A great addition for any bookshelf!
