This is the second book in the Saga of Darren Shan series and it continues the success of the first book with its unique story of vampires told from the authors point of view.

After the events of the firsr book Darren is working with Mr. Crepsley with the freak show as it travels around the country. After leaving his family and best friends behind Darren is no longer a schoolboy worried about homework, but a vampire who is trying to resist what he needs to stay alive. Darren is only a half vampire and needs less blood to survive, but his refusal to drink from humans leaves him in need of another source. He befriends Sam and the snake boy, but there is another creature on the site who might upset the situation further.

This is a great sequel to the first book and continues the story from the first keeping the style his own and the story as unpredictable as possible. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the first and if you are new to the series then you should definetly read the first book before this as only then can you experience the real rollercoaster ride that Darren Shan has created in this fantastic series.

Summary: Great first sequel in a quality series
