Advantages: Exciting

In my review of Darren Shan and the Vampire's assistant I will not contain any spoilers of the book but I may write a few hints in and I will write about the first book in the series as it is necessary for you to understand as to what is happening. For this reason I would suggest you not reading this review if you are going to read the first book and want everything which happens in Darren Shan: Cirque Du Freak to be a surprise I would recommend you not to read the rest of the review.
In the first book Darren Shan and his best friend Steve go to circus and Darren is amazed about a spider which does tricks. So later on that night he steals the spider. When showing the spider to Steve though this poisonous spider bites Steve. Steve is then taken to hospital and looks as if he is dying. Darren then makes a deal with the spider owner. Steve will get cured...if Darren becomes a vampire! Darren goes ahead with the deal and then has to fake his death as he can't continue living normal life as he has so much more strength he could kill his mother while hugging her.
In this book called Daren Shan and the vampire's assistant Darren is Mr. Crepsley's assistant. Darren goes through lots of different emotions which are portrayed by the author well such as Darren doesn't want to drink human blood even though he knows otherwise he would die. Darren also hates Mr. Crepsley for making him a vampire but likes the fact he hasn't run away and actually looks after him. This is a great book which is very exciting. I don't think however it is as good as the later ones in the series. The first few books in this series however don't have as much horror as the last ones.
