"Around noon, i got a call on my cell phone. 'Just checking in.' the Mastermind said. 'How is San Fransisco Alex? Lovely city. Will you leave you heart there? Do you think its a good place to die?" The great enemy, the mastermind, is back-and he is hot on Cross's trail. His cold, evil and taunting threats leave Alex confused, angry and desperately concerned for his beloved family's safety. Meanwhile, Alex is drawn into his most bizarre investigation yet. Two San Fransisco joggers are found dead-bitten and hung by their feet to drain the blood out of them. Further murders in California and then on the East Coast, baffle Cross and the FBI. Is this ... Read the complete review

Violets Are Blue is a James Patterson novel featuring the best selling author favoured character, Detective Alex Cross. The book sort of plays like a sequel to Patterson's previous novel, Rose Are Blue, as it features the same villain as before, and as a result it would probably help if you had read Roses before attempting this one. However, this is not completely necessary. You would likely be a little confused and not completely understand the gist of some parts, but the main plot is easy enough to follow for the Alex Cross virgin. All I will say is that if you haven't read the previous books in order, then you will think there is little or no ... Read the complete review

OK, as there isn't an option for it yet, I’ve decided to write my op on this book here! Plus my op on Patterson in general! First the Author! I first got into reading Patterson quite strangely actually! I had seen the movie Kiss the Girls starring Morgan Freeman that was pants, but my pal told me that the book is really worth a read! But I couldn't get hold of that book so I read another instead, this being Along Came a Spider, which happens to be the very first Alex Cross Novel! Loved it and couldn't put it down! So moved on to others! I must say that although the Cross novels are very good, my personal favourites are the one's which focus on new ... Read the complete review

**Contains spoilers from Roses Are Red** I picked up the latest James Patterson novel from Morrisons at the bargain price of £4.99. (Usual price £6.99.) I needed something to read on my week off from work, and from the small selection of books they sell at the supermarket, Patterson was the only author I'd heard of. I have already read the Jack and Jill book from the Alex Cross series, which was a Christmas present, and I have also seen the film Along Came A Spider. Violets Are Blue continues on from the previous Alex Cross story Roses Are Red, which I haven't read. Reading the first part isn't vital as there is a lot of background to ... I have read the whole Alex Cross series detective series by Patterson and Have eagerly anticiapted each one. I have read several of his other works too but always found myself favouring this series. Unfortunatley 'Violet are Blue'came as a slight disappointment. In the previous booj 'Roses are Red' we followed a skillful killer who was revealed to us at the end but whom had not been to Cross yet. My main question then becomes: Why did Patterson not stick with this storyline? The Mastermind was a killer who could have kept the readers interest easily held for a whole novel if not a whole spin-off of his own. Instead, Roses are ... Read the complete review
