Advantages: gripping storylines, unique

Disadvantages: Cross getting tiresome now

OK, as there isn't an option for it yet, I’ve decided to write my op on this book here! Plus my op on Patterson in general!

First the Author! I first got into reading Patterson quite strangely actually! I had seen the movie Kiss the Girls starring Morgan Freeman that was pants, but my pal told me that the book is really worth a read! But I couldn't get hold of that book so I read another instead, this being Along Came a Spider, which happens to be the very first Alex Cross Novel! Loved it and couldn't put it down! So moved on to others! I must say that although the Cross novels are very good, my personal favourites are the one's which focus on new characters which aren't part of a series!

When the Wind Blows is a really unique novel, and will send you on an emotional roller coaster. I can't even let you in on a tiny bit of the plot cos it'll spoil it; lets just say a female discovers some children who aren't quite normal! And that's all I’m going to say on the matter!

Cradle and All, is a more religious offering. Two virgins one in US and the other in Ireland are both pregnant, one has the Devil's child and one has God's child! A priest is sent on to find out which one is which! This is a great book!

Now onto Violets are Blue. This is the immediate follow up to Roses are Red. At the end of Roses are Red we found out who the Mastermind was (not telling!!) Violet's are Blue follows the Mastermind harassing Alex Cross once more, but Cross has his mind on another case, this time mysterious murders are happening all over the country, the wounds and circumstances of the victims deaths seem to lean towards vampires. Cross has to keep his wits about him, and investigate into if there really are vampires and if not who is making these murders!

My only complaint about the Cross novels is that there is always a love interest, it's like Patterson feels he has to add this touch to get the votes of the femal
e fans! Let me tell you it's not the case! I find it offensive that Cross falls so easily in love after splitting from his last partner who was supposedly his soul mate!

So of course Cross get's himself another female companion who is Violets are Blue! All in all the book is very disappointing compared to previous books, I think it's time to put Cross to bed and concentrate on the new team of investigators as featured in 1st to Die.

I love the way Patterson writes his books so that the chapters are never more than 4 pages long, it makes me read the books quicker, and when you are tired and reading it's easy to end a chapter rather than finishing bang in the middle of a chapter which I personally find very annoying.

So try Patterson, you’re bound to love him as much as I do!

I'm waiting with bated breath for this book to come out in paperback. I too think he's better when not writing the series and I loved When the Wind Blows and was recently so annoyed I couldn't find a catagory that I wrote a Patterson in General...
