Advantages: Superb writing, cinematic art and brilliant characterisations.

Disadvantages: Just a short and minor one - Wolverine VS. a shark.... seriously.

A collection of Scottish writer Mark Millar's run of 12 issues on Marvel's Wolverine monthly title, this TPB certainly packs a lot of punch.

A stellar story that explores the humanity of Wolverine as he faces off against HYDRA and The Hand, seeking vengeance for the murder of a young innocent boy. The story is superbly written and gives a perfect blend of action and serious charachter study. Despite one or two VERY MINOR downfalls in the story, this book is sure to maintain tyour iterest throughout. Features appearances by Marvel legends such as Daredevil, Elektra, Nick Fury, Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

The art is brilliantly drawn and gives the story a distinctively epic atmosphere and feels like a true cinematic masterpeice especially the great battle scenes set on the SHIELD helicarrier which feature a distinct array of Marvel's best.

Whether you are reading just as a standalone story for entertainment or wanting to catch up on the latest stories, this is a perfect choice which will leave you craving a real Wolverine movie.

Summary: You cannot miss this! Essential reading for any comic book fan.

Wolverine is a bit hit and miss for me. Tales where he gets sucked into the whole ninja thing (is that what The Hand are?) I find a bit dull. He's quite good in the New Avengers series, if not a little less prominent than we're used to.
