I have read a lot of books of all different kinds. But never before have i read a book that made me laugh, cry and saw awww out loud. This book did all of these things and more. Usualluy i am reluctant to read books that a movie i liked was based on because often i find that i become disillusioned about the film. The enjoyment is taken out of it for me. With this book, that didn't happen. "A Walk to Remember" has become my favourite film and after seeing it i had to read the book. The great thing about the book is that is is different enough from the film that neither one is ruined for you after readin and enough like the movie that you still know the characters and love them as much. They still touch you in the same way.

In case you don't know, the book is the story of a older man who looks back to when he was a 17 year old boy and how he fell in love for the first time with the minister's daughter. The book shows how they fall ion love and all that they go through afterwards.

Unlike the movie, the book is set in the 1950's so as you can imagine the atmosphere and circimstances and the things people do are very different. The dangerous/cruel jokes we see played in the movie don't exist in the book. But the jokes are still as hurtful.

The will and strength of Jamie Sullivan in this book are tremendous. You can see the whole thing being played out in your mind, and you take the faces of the actors you know as the characters and place them in the 50's and the book is so much more amazing to you.

When i read this book, i refused to put it down until i finished. I would read a passage and i would have to reread it 10 times. Not because it didn't make sense but because it touched me so much. I would say out 'aww' out loud at certain points as new love and first love blossomed. And then i would be laughing, for no particular reason than the book in spired me to do so. No other book has ever had that effect on me before. I may like a book, i may think a book is sweet. But i have never before been compelled to voice a thought to myself as i read the words, which i found myself doing a lot with this book. I would read a sentence and i would say to myself aloud "This is what first love should be like" the innocence of it and the wonder of it. It touches you and makes you wish for it.

And the book makes you cry, but not neccessarily with sadness. You cry just because there are so many emotions that this book brings out in you that you just have to cry.

There are so many passages, one in particular, that i can recite word by word from this book. Passages and sentences that will stick with me forever. This book is one that i know i will always keep a copy of and read when i feel like there is no hope of love or happiness in this world, because this book renews that hope. This book gives you that hope.

Sounds lovely. I am not sure what it is about though. :-)
