set their work in Britain, and Deborah Crombie hails from Texas. She did live in London for a number of years though, and for me she writes about real places where believable people live. Gemma even lived in Leyton for a couple of books at the beginning of the series, a part of east London I suspect few tourists would visit or recognise. I recommend this book and others in the series to fans of quite traditional police detective stories, but also as a change of pace for those who often prefer faster grittier books. so any constructive criticism will be much appreciated! Dreaming of the Bones is the 5th book in the Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James series of detective fiction written by American author Deborah Crombie. Depsite the nationality of the author, the main protagonists of the books are British police officers working out of Scotland Yard. I first became aware of this series having read the previous novel out of sequence. I then set about reading all the books in order as I enjoyed it so much. The main characters Duncan and Gemma are murder detectives and have recently become lovers as well. Thus their personal relationship develops as the book progresses and is strained and ...
