I first strayed across Martin Bell's work in a book of collated short stories about Christmas. The story he told - about a bunny without anyone to invite him to their Christmas party - made me cry, and I ended up seeking out more of his work. Martin Bell's stories are Christian parables. They may seem childish (an impression not helped by the fact that the only edition of this book still in print is the large print edition), but there's a deeper meaning behind each and every one of them.
