 ... of the character of Britain is captured in snapshots of these subjects, and although the photos in general are perhaps more 'normal' and less 'arty' or well composed than you might expect, they are of reasonable quality and most are interesting. I didn't think that this book was criticising Britain, it is more of a gentle celebration of the bizarre, unique and also not-so-great parts of our nation. Having read some of the reviews on Amazon before receiving this book, I didn't expect to enjoy it much. However I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was fab! The book is a chunky hardback, beautifully produced with 160 thick, glossy pages. Each page has between one and six full colour photographs on it, and some pages also include brief introductions to the section, or quotes and survey statistics that the photographers have compiled whilst showcasing their work. There are 46 chapters in the book, covering diverse subjects ranging from garden ornaments to street entertainers to concrete.
