Advantages: Honest , Interesting

Disadvantages: None!

I have just read Coleen's autobiography ; Welcome To My World and must say that it is an enjoyable read. I had wanted this book since I heard she was releasing it , although I never got round to buying it. However when I was on a recent shopping trip in Cardiff. Browsing over the magazine stall , searching for a magazine I hadn't already got , I came across a "sign" that said ; "Get Coleen's My World for £2.99 if you buy any magazine!" . The book was originally meant to cost £7.99 so this was a bargain! In my basket it went.

* Who is Coleen McLoughlin*
Whether you're a celebrity fan , a football fan or a fan of magazines , I'm sure you've all heard of Coleen Mclouglin. If not :

Coleen Mary Mcloughlin was born on 3rd April 1986 in Liverpool to parents Tony and Colette. She is the oldest of four children. Since today (June 12th 2008) , she is the wife of famous Manchester United football player Wayne Rooney who she has dated since they were sixteen years old. Wayne was Coleen's first boyfriend. Coleen left school after her G.C.S.Es. She has 11 G.C.S.Es , one of which is an A* in performing arts. She is now a celebrity in her own right , rather than being 'just the wife of a footballer'( also known as a W.A.G (Wives and Girlfriends). She is the face of Asda (a deal worth £1.5 million) , has her own fragrance , has deals with Nike womens wear worth £1.5 million , a £2 book deal with Harper Collins , writes a column for Closer magazine , which she earns £100,000 a year , has done a fitness video where she was paid £250,000 and also has a tv show called 'Coleen's Real Women'. All in all she is worth over £8 million. Not bad for a twenty two year old , who was once working class. She certainly has done well for herself.

* Coleen McLaughlin - Welcome To My World *
I must say that this is one of the nicest book covers I have ever seen. The cover consists of a 'head shot' photo of Coleen turning to face the camera. She doesn't look as if she is wearing a lot of make-up , is wearing her hair up and is wearing silver earings (we can only see one). She is surrounded by a white and pink background which are covered in pink flowerd and butterflies. It is such a pretty cover. On the bottom of the cover is "Coleen" in a pink glitter which appears to be in her writing , so it's like her signature , although I'm sure it's not her proper signature. The 'Coleen' is raised so you can feel that it reads Coleen. Beneath 'Coleen' are the words which is also the title of the book ; 'Welcome To My World' and beneath this in a different font , in black capitals reads 'THE NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER' . I love this book cover as it is so pretty , and shows that she is a girly girl , and also shows that it is aimed at girls.
As Coleen tells us at the beginning of the book, this isn't an autobiography , it is the story of the last few years of her life.
The book is written from Coleen's point of view (just thought that I'd point that out, in case you thought , because it wasn't an autobiography it wasn't written by her , it is.

There are twenty two chapters in the book , however the last one is where she answers quick fire questions such as her favourite vegetable and biggest regret.
One thing I didn't know until I read it , is that this book was released a year ago, and because she has done so much in the last year , she has released it again with an added chapter of what she has done since the book was released and also how she was surprised at how well the book sold. I think this is interesting.
This book contains many photographs , some of which are personal and others which are professional. We get to see photographs of Coleen when she was younger and before she came famous.

I was never really a fan of Coleen until I saw one of her television documentaries about how children's care homes really needed money , and it was here that I saw how honest and down to earth she was , that I began to like her , and became a big fan of hers. Before I had only read about what a shopaholic she was , and that made me think that she was spending her boyfriends money and going on shopping sprees on a daily basis. However after reading her book I realised that she wasn't like this at all. She even admits that although she loves shopping and fashion , she does not shop that much , it was just that this is how the media potrayed her because they didn't have anything else to write about her. Coleen is so honest and tells you the honest truth. There is a part in the book where she writes a paragraph about a newspaper headline , where she explains what really happened. She also tells us what some people will do to create a story. It is shocking.
At first I thought how lucky she is , although , yes she is lucky , the amount of hassle she has to deal with , doesn't sound easy and I think you'd have to be a strong character to get through half of it.
In each chapter she gives tips such as 'Get Fit Quick' and 'Her Favourite Party Songs' to name a few. She also gives shopping tips.

* My Opinion *
I love the cover of this book , it is so pretty (sorry , I just had to say that AGAIN!). Although I was desperate to read this book all in one go , I must say that it took me quite a long time even though I was reading big chunks at a time. There is so much to read. One thing I found is that this book is extremely heavy even though it is a paperback. I like how Coleen shares really personal details with us , it is what makes this book such a good read because she is so honest and down to earth. She also keeps reminding us throughout the book that she considers herself really lucky to be where she is , as this is something most girls dream of. I like her positive attitude towards life and the fact that she realises that she is lucky and does not take her 'fame' for granted. It is also good that she is independent and has her own career rather than relying on her husband Wayne for cash. This book is extremly useful for finding out all about Coleen's life and we get to see what it is really like being a footballers wife - she says it is nothing like what we see on the television programme ; Footballers Wives.
I was extremely happy with my purchase , especially as it was only £2.99 - what a bargain! I enjoyed reading this book so much (apart from when it got too heavy for my arms to hold it any longer!). I think all girls and women should give this book a go , whether you like Coleen or not , you will love her after reading this!

Thanks For Reading!

What on earth has she done in her 22 or so years on this planet to warrant a book about her life???? Married Wayne Rooney and writes drivel in a magazine?

She's got an autobiography? What the hell has she done? She's famous for being a wag, stopping myself here as I'll start rambling. Brill review, but I can't stand this woman. Kirsty. x
