What a Mess is a television series from the early 70's (so my husband had told me!) and was written by Frank Muir. A few books were released from the show and this one is What a Mess goes Camping. What a mess is a scruffy Afghan hound who always ends up in trouble no matter how hard he tries to be good. The book starts with What a Mess' mother asking him why he is wearing a dirty and silly colander on his head. What a mess tells his mother that it is his crown, he says that as he is a price in, the old Afghan royal family he is supposed to wear one.
