Advantages: A brillaint pop up book with great ibright illustrations.

Disadvantages: There aren't any.

"When I'm big" is a great animated hardcover book that is written by Christine Tagg and illustrated by Bill Bolton. You can buy the book from Amazon for £6.59 and you will get free delivery.

The book is all about a Caterpillar called Pip who wants to try and find out what's he's going to be when he's big. The story tells you all about Pip who goes on a journey to find out what he will be like when he's big. Each page you turn Pip meets another animal to find out whether he will be like them. The animals in order that he meets are:

The Snail Pip hopes he doesn't become a snail as he doesn't want to hide in a dark shell.
An Ant but Pip can't keep up with how much the ant moves around so he doesn't want to be one.
A Bee but Pip can't gather honey as his legs are too short, so hopefully not a bee.
A beetle He has too many feet to do the work a beetle does.
Then he visits the grasshopper but Pip can't keep up as he's hopping around all the time.

Pip then gets a bit sad as he really wants to know what he is going to be then he sees his mum and asks what he's going to be and she replies "Just like me" and opens her wings up to show she is a beautiful butterfly.

The book is brilliant as on each page there is a new pop up of the animal that Pip meets. The pop ups make the animals jump out and it makes them look like they have come to life. The illustrations are all beautifully done and are very bright. The words used are very catchy and in most cases each page has at least two rhyming lines. My daughters love this book as the tone of the book is so friendly and they love looking at the pictures. Another reason I think the book is good is because it teaches them about what different animals live like and all through the book it uses describing words and tells you more information about what Pip looks like i.e. he has chubby legs etc.. making it easier for you to picture exactly what he looks like. They will enjoy hearing about Pips journey and will want to know what he is going to grow up and become.

If your child likes this book then there are other books in the Busy Bugs pop-up series which are: In a spin, Home sweet home, Silly Spike, Zany Zed and there's lot's more. I'm definitely going to be buying my daughters some more of these books.

Overall I definitely recommend this book.

Summary: Overall a fun book for your child.

Sounds good, don't think I've seen this before. My daughter's really into animals just now, I think she'd love this.
