Maisy Goes to Playschool - Lucy Cousins
by wisemind - written on 31/08/09 (Very useful, 65 readings)
Rating:
This is another book that I have picked up from the library. My son already owns a couple of Maisy books which he really enjoys so picking this one was an obvious choice. Maisy goes to playschool is a card book with flaps. Maisy stories are very short but do seem to all have some educational value. This story is about the things that Maisy gets up to at playschool. On the first page we see that Maisy does some painting .What is unique about this from any other book I have read to my son is that it isn't just a traditional flap book. On the first page the easel has three paintings that Maisy has done and you can flick through the three pictures to ...

Maisy Dresses Up - Lucy Cousins

Rating:
to the party the reader then realises that Maisy has made a zebra costume and the party begins!! ~ Illustrations ~ I am a big fan of the Lucy Cousin s illustrations in the Maisy series of books. They are bright, large, simple and bold. The outlines of each character or object is in thick black pen and the rest is coloured in, in rich, vibrant colours. The backgrounds are also very bright, not the bog standard white that is in so many children s books. ~ Style & Format ~ The text is quite simple and is in a large font. What is also good about the font is that there are no loops or cursive writing which makes it far easier for emergent readers to decipher. There ...
