Wales is a relatively small country, but packed into its 8,000 square miles is a wide range of habitats. From the tundra-like conditions at the top of its highest mountains, to the harsh conditions of the high valleys, the rocky coastline of Pembrokeshire, and the lush green of the coastal salt marshes. Wales can therefore, provide the correct environment for a huge range of bird species; many found in higher numbers than anywhere else in the UK.
