I've had this book since the late eighties and have to say at the time it was considered one of Dean Koontz's excellent novels. Published in 1980 and making it to paperback in 1982 it was obviously a bit of a hit at the time. I haven't read it since I got it almost 20 years ago and decided to read it again recently. Hilary Thomas is a woman with an abusive past, she has managed to become a successful writer and can hardly believe her life is going so well. Tony Clemenza is a cop with a passion for painting, brought up in poverty he daren't follow his dream in case the money isn't constant.
