... cliched. There's actually no mystery for the reader as to who is after Victor and why, it's blurted out in the first few chapters and there are also no twists and turns you expect from a thriller. The actual storyline is one that's been done to death both before this book and after and the majority of people who've used this storyline have done it far better than Tess Gerritsen has in this book. I actually found myself flicking to the front of the book to see if this had been written around the 1970s when this type of...more

I've read quite a few books by Tess Gerritson and really like her work so when someone offered me the loan of this book I took it expecting a really good read. Whistle Blower starts with Victor Holland being chased on a dark rainy night and heading for the road to try and flag down a lift, he gets shot before he makes it but still manages to stumble onto the road in front of a car. I have always seen her books in the shops but never picked one up until I saw a 3 pack on offer and from that purchase onwards I have been hooked. My latest purchase online was of The Whistleblower. Gerritsen writes in two formats, the first is her Maura Isles series and her second is a series of independent novels. The Whistleblower is one of her independent books not affiliated to a series. I have decided to review this book as I have just finished reading it. I hope I have chosen the correct category as the book on dooyoos Description actually has a different cover than the book I purchased. Tess Gerritsen is an international best selling author who gave up her career as a physician to write full time. She uses her experiences to bring tension and terror to her thrillers. Her stories are usually believable and suspenseful. She lives in Maine with her husband, who is also a physician and her two sons. Tess Gerritsen is actually one of my favourite authors and I am a big fan of her follow on stories following the lives of Jane Rizzole ...  Read the complete review
