Advantages: Short, easy to read

Disadvantages: Poorly laid out

'Who Moved My Cheese?' is a 'self help' book revolving around how to cope with change in your life, and is written by Dr. Spencer Johnson, who has penned a number of similar books; there's a lot of additional information on him inside the book.

Despite selling millions of copies over the world, I only recently heard of it through a friend's recommendation, and so I picked it up for just £3.99 in an Eason book shop.

I didn't really know where to start with this review, as unfortunately I found the book to be a bit of a mess; fair enough, the title is in big, bold red letters on the cover, but it's also littered with quotes and subtitles which make it look a bit untidy.

The book is split into 3 sections; the first is about a meeting that takes place beteen old school friends at a reunion. The second is the actual 'Cheese' story which illustrates the real message of how to deal with change. In the third section we return to the reunion and find out the classmates' reactions. I don't believe for one second that this reunion actually happened; the dialogue is just to cheesy (pardon the pun) to be believable.

The book is 95 pages long and I believe this could have been chopped in half; the text is huge (although this would be useful for readers with limited eyesight), and there are several pictures of lumps of cheese, taking up whole pages. Also there are a lot of quotes recommending the book which again, takes up too much room; I understand Dr. Johnson wants to pimp his book but surely 1 page would have been enough?

I feel bad giving this such a low rating because it was undoubtedly written with great intentions and at its' base it does convey a positive message. I will hold onto the book because it's easy to read and perhaps at some stage when I am confronted with change, I will find it useful; maybe just not at the moment.

Summary: Not useful to me, but clearly it has helped millions of other people

I know who moved my cheese. Son did and scoffed the lot. :-). On a serious note this sounds like a useful book.
