Why Do I Say These Things? is a book by TV funnyman Jonathan Ross. It got it from the discount website Bananas for a couple of quid, but the usual retail price is close to £20 for the hardcover version! Amazon have it for about £10, which this book is just not worth in my opinion. According to Ross, this book is not supposed to be an autobiography. He insists that he's not got round to writing one of those yet. Instead, this book is supposed to be a fun-filled journey through the weird and wonderful interactions he's had with celebrities over the years. Including all the foot-in-mouth comments he's made and completely inappropriate opinions he's offered ... Read the complete review

I was looking forward to reading this book as I like listening to Jonathan Ross on the radio ever Saturday as he has me and my hubby in tears with laughter at times. When I started this book I found I was very disappointed. I was expecting this to be a biography of his life but instead he starts the book by telling us that this is certainly not his biography and is instead a book he has written telling us about crazy situations he has found himself in and why he sometimes does the silly thing he does. I did persevere with the book and was pleasantly surprised as I found it very good. The book is split into 14 chapters and each of them has a very witty title ... Read the complete review

When in Waterstones a couple of months ago I was in the book purchasing mood and trying to take advantage of their 3 for 2 offer. There were 2 books that jumped straight out at me, but I was at a loss to find a 3rd. Then I saw Jonathon Ross: Why do I say these things. I have always liked Rossy and enjoy his radio show so I though a book about his life could be interesting. I thought it was going to be an autobiography, however it was more like small segments of his life in no particular order. Each chapter is interesting and does give some insight into his life. This is done in an anecdotal way, somewhat more akin to talking to someone at a ... Read the complete review

Having run out of books to read recently I went rummaging in my father's bookcase in the hope of finding something that wasn't based around football or the SAS. I eventually found Jonathan Ross's recent book Why do I say these things? My father hadn't read the book yet but as I could find nothing else of interest he said I could borrow it. I have been aware of Ross and his work for many years but wouldn't say I am a fan, I find him a little irritating and immature and just wish he would shut up most of the time. Anyway, I was desperate for something to read and my local library only opens three times a week so I took the book hoping it would be ... Read the complete review

Oh wow! What a Christmas present this book turned out to be! I've been a huge fan of Wossy for years, so as soon as I heard about this book it went straight on the top of my Christmas list. As I craftily leave my Christmas list in very public view, I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised at getting two copies, but Tesco did agree to swap one copy for the new Jeremy Clarkson book (review to follow), and always better safe than sorry. The title is scarily (but unintentionally) timely, bearing in mind the recent debacle over the Ross/Brand/Sachs fiasco, but doubtless this just helped to boost sales. Despite the book being 320 pages long, I ... Read the complete review
