Michael Shermer is my kind of sceptic. In this excellent collection of scholarly yet accessible essays, Shermer covers all the major threats to reason and logic creeping into our government and our education. This includes creationism, the supernatural, alternative medicine, UFOs, conspiracy theories and holocaust denial. He carefully exposes each with detailed scientific evidence and reasoning. Shermer does not shirk from anything. This includes taking down one of his heroes, Ayn Rand, and exposing her "rational" cult.
