This book, which was written in 1862, is such a pleasure to read. My brother lent me the book as I am not in the habit of actually buying books, at least not if I can help it. How I came to read the book … I was staying at my brother’s place in West Wales, and I asked him about a hotel situated on the Llangurig to Aberystwyth road, which we passed en route, called the George Borrow Hotel. It struck me as an unusual name for a hotel in the middle of Wales. My brother went on to tell me about George Borrow, born 1803 in Norfolk, the author of a book “Wild Wales”.
