Advantages: Well written, wonderfully funny!!!

Disadvantages: Meant to be for children, but who cares!!!

This gothic comedy is a small masterpiece in itself!!! It's a must read!!!

This is a tale of a family who move into a large new house which is haunted by the Canterville Ghost!!!

The ghost feels that it is his 'duty' to continue to haunt the house and the new family within it!

The whole story itself is a clearly comical parody of the gothic!! It is very funny at times!

The new family (Americans) are not afraid of the ghost, which is where the humour comes from. The family give the ghost oil for his chains.

There is a theme of Old world VS New world, which is fluent throughout the story!! The family keep offering modern solutions to the ghosts problems!!

Towards the end, a member of the family bonds with the ghost to find that he is unhappy. I won't say no more becasue it'll spoil the story!!!

I recommend this to everyone!!!
