How excellent is the LOGAN - A trilogy book?

It's brilliant, it's well written, packed with ideas and full of symbolism and enduring characters. It's a very dark sci-fi trilogy and lots of terrible things happen to Logan and ancillary characters. One scene from the Logan's World that has stayed with me is a room of dead babies.

If you are unfamiliar with Logan and the MGM movie Logan's Run - boiling it down it becomes highly comparable to Brave New World by Aldous Huxley - both with dystopia and well paced rising bile at the realization of living in a dystopia that was a utopia on the inside view. Although, dystopia novels are always comparable to one another.

The trilogy contained here, features an introduction by William F Nolan - it's titled 'Logan: a media history' and it is uniquely interesting if you're a fan of the book, movie or tv series. There's also some of William Nolan's drawings contained within the books which seperate the three novels. They're actually very good in a 70's fashion.

It should also be mentioned here that George Clayton Johnson co-wrote Logan's Run with William Nolan - George Clayton Johnson also being notable for looking a bit like a less scruffy Alan Moore and for having written the first episode of Star Trek and being the proprietor of Café Frankenstein.

in this volume are contained; Logan's Run, Logan's World and Logan's Search.

I will not go into a great synopsis for the books as they should be read and enjoyed, there are some major changes in Logan's Run compared to the movie but they are much more enjoyable.

In Logan's World, Logan returns from Sanctuary to find out why supplies have stopped to Sanctuary allowing thousands to die.

In Logan's Search, Logan must help a parallel world to become as free as his world.

I have read and re-read these books countless times, they're awesome.

William Nolan has written a new story called Logan's Return and is still alive and kicking, there's talk of a new movie coming soon. Buy the book or books separately, it's well worth it and if you find a copy of this particular edition consider it an investment.

Summary: well worth any price, an enjoyable read and worth re-reading
