Just so you know, this review is one of the hardest ones I've been asked to do. I just want to make sure we're clear on this. Because it's really hard to sum up Book Nine of a twelve-book series, dammit. (Especially since I haven't re-read the previous eight books in a year and a half, and I've slept a little since then!) so the details of the plot are kind of fuzzy for me. But as I`m a nice(ish) guy and as a good friend requested I review this book in particular, I decided to put fingers to keys and see what I could come up with. Now One typical failing of sequels, (especially in a long-winded series like this) is having too much recap at ... Read the complete review

The Book Has Landed! The Wait if over - book 9 is here at long last! YIPPPEEE!! Well... it is for some people. Some shops have it - some don't. I think Orbit made a few mistakes in terms of shipping to wholesalers on time and that kind of thing. BUT HOW WAS THE BOOK?? Good. Now giving away the book is not my intention, so I need to walk the thin line between explaining why the book is good, and buying it in hard back worth it, rather than waiting for it to come out in paperback after the dissapointment that was the Path of Daggers. First of all we see Rand, Perrin and Mat in this book. There is also significant movement in the book, ... Read the complete review

He we go then, book number nine! Winter's Heart then is the ninth book in the fantasy series by the author Robert Jordan. This is from the very well known Wheel of time series. This book came out in November 2000. So were getting more up to date with the release dates now. Again this reached number one in the best sellers list over in America. With a two year wait from the previous book, the path of daggers, fans were eager to continue the exciting story. The previous book was for me and most other people from what I gather, a little bit of a disapointment. Jordan had let his high standards slip somewhat and so this was a really important book ... After a few disappointing books in the Wheel of Time series this book finally starts to pick up the pace and get back to the quality seen in the earlier books in the series. Recent books have been disappointing for a few reasons, they tended to have too much going on in them for much to actually happen in each book and they had no real ending to the book making getting to the end of it an unsatisfying experience unless you already owned the next book and could continue reading. This book changes this however, it seems to concentrate on a few storylines rather than lots of them, unfortunatly this does mean that a few of the storylines from the previous book are ... The problem with this book, and, indeed, the two-three books preceeding it is not really that the plot seems to have stagnated, or even that the reader is taken through the twists and turns of seemingly endess subplots to reach an inconclusive ending. It's that, at the beginning of this series, there were actual characters. I speak particularily of the female characters. It doesn't matter of what culture they come from, every female character may be strong but they are strong in exactly the same way. And that supposed strength is also a weakness. They are all stubborn, unwilling to compromise, and hot-tempered. Very child-like, as other reviewers have pointed ... Read the complete review
