Advantages: A Better Book Than The Last

Disadvantages: Not As Good As Some

He we go then, book number nine! Winter's Heart then is the ninth book in the fantasy series by the author Robert Jordan. This is from the very well known Wheel of time series.

This book came out in November 2000. So were getting more up to date with the release dates now. Again this reached number one in the best sellers list over in America. With a two year wait from the previous book, the path of daggers, fans were eager to continue the exciting story.

The previous book was for me and most other people from what I gather, a little bit of a disapointment. Jordan had let his high standards slip somewhat and so this was a really important book to see if he could rediscover the magic.

This book follows lots of different stories yet again. First of all we have got Perrin who is chasing after the Shaido Aiel who have kidnapped his new wife, Faile Bashere.

Also we have Mat making his return after being pretty much left out in the previous book. He is trapped in Ebou Dar which is now under the control of the Seanchan. A very important young woman from the Seanchan ranks, Tuon, turns out to be the daughter of nine moons, who Mat is linked to in prophecy. She is sure to have a big impact on young Mats life and the story follows this.

Rand is off trying to fix all the problems in the world. He travels back to Shadar Lowgoth to try and fix the taint on Saidin which makes gifted males go mad. This is a big deal and a very important step that Rand needs to take.

This book is better than the previous one, but it does not quite live up to some of the earlier books in the series. I like the story with Mat, its very entertaining at times, Mat has such a wild side that seeing him put in awkward positions like he gets into in these books is very funny sometimes.

I enjoy the way Jordan describes things in this book, he really makes the story come to live and draws the reader in. There are some good new characters that interact very well with some of the better known ones and provide some really interesting reading.

So this book is not as good as some, but I did enjoy it. I think anyone who enjoys fantasy books will enjoy reading this. But you do need to make sure you have read the other books in the series or else this will not make much sense. These are quite difficult books to follow at times with the amount of different evetns that are all taking place at the same time.

Give this book a try and I'm sure you will enjoy it, I did and was eager to get a copy of the next one and continue the story!

Summary: Another Good Book
