Wishong of Shannara - Review Evil is abroad in the world and its shadow falls once more on the Ohmsford family. Brin Ohmsford, great granddaughter of Shea Ohmsford and her younger brother Jair were born with magical gifts, Their father, Wil, used the power of the Elfstones to aid Amberle and save the Elves and all the lands of the world and the races within. The use of the Elfstones changed him, Brin and Jair bear this gift, unique to each, using it as toys to amuse themselves. But with the return of the druid Allanon, an ancient magician and last of the druids, their lives change immediately. With her parents gone on a journey of their own, Brin and Allanon begin a quest to find the Ildatch, a powerful book of dark magic, that can bend the will of those around it, they are joined by Rone Leah, Brins friend from childhood, and bid farewell to Jair, who is quite unpleased at being left behind at an inn owned by the family. We follow Brin and her companions on their quest to destroy the dark book, and the journey of Jair, who runs away from the inn and attempts to find his older sister, but finds instead a quest of his own. They meet many dangers and no few number of friends, from the mysterious weapons master, Garet Jax, to Kimber Boh, a young girl in the wilderness and Cogline, her almost sane grandfather. Join them as they travel two paths across the world, through a war between Gnomes and Dwarfs, to battling Mord Wraiths and ancient Jachyra, each must sruggle with their own magic gifts, Brin must reach her goal or the world will fall into shadow, Jair must reach his, or Brin will fall to hers. As a small footnote, there is a short story titled `Indomitable` by Terry Brooks in the compendium Legends II, that serves as an epilogue to this tale, tying up a few lose ends.

- 10/12/03 Hi and a very warm welcome to Dooyoo! Sorry to kick you off with a lowish rating - as a guide, I am being a little on the harsh side. To be honest, you're doing fairly well - very nice overview of the book here (which, incidently, I'm just about to start reading!). However, this is an opinion site, and what we'd really love to hear is your own feelings on the book - don't just describe it, tell us what YOU thought! Go on, we're really nosey ;)
I'd really recommend you try and read as many other opinions as possible. Firstly, it'll give you a good idea of what goes on around here generally - the 'crowned' (rewarded) reviews (link on front page) are a great place to look. It'll also get your name 'out there', attract reads back to yourself, and give you a taste of the community aspect of the site. Well worth it, imo, but then I would say that, wouldn't I?! lol
I do hope you stick around and enjoy yourself here. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
