The Art of The Put down is an enjoyable collection of witty and ascerbic quotes spanning the worlds of art, literature, sport, politics, celebrity and historical correspondence, and though some of these are mundane there are frequent gems to be found throughout. One politician describes his political opponnent's attack as "like being flogged with wet lettuice", Marlon Brado is described as "sounding like he has a mouth full of wet tissue paper", whilst of Margaret Thatcher someone comments "She suprised everyone by buying a house in Dulwich instead of moving to Bolivia with the rest of the Nazis".
