Lionel Grigson's 'Wonders of The World' takes a selective look at some of the most fascinating and impressive spectacles the world has to offer, both manmade and natural ones, with large and detailed pictures on each of its 250 odd pages, some of which contain supporting text and some of which are given over to images entirely. The book is given over to seven chapters, the first of which detail the seven wonders of the ancient world, namely the pyramids at Giza, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Collossus of Rhodes, The Pharos at Alexandria, which was built as a beacon for ships in 270 BC during the reign of King Ptomely of Egypt, The Olympian Zeus statue in Greece, ...
