As there is no heading for The Writer's Handbook 2002, I have placed it under 2000; surely it will be updated at some point. The Writer's Handbook 2002 is a complete reference guide for writers, journalists, publishers, editors, screenwriters and broadcasters, or so it states on the front cover. I have been buying the books yearly for about three years now and they are very good. The Writer's Handbook is now in it's fifteenth year of publication and is edited by Barry Turner, an editor and author with twenty books to his credit as well as radio plays, travel articles and more. It costs £12.99 and can be found at any good book shop or WHSmith, ... Read the complete review

Although the title says Writers Handbook 2000 I thought I’d review the new 2001 edition that has just been released. The Writers Handbook 2001 edition follows much the same format as last years book One of the main differences is the addition of a section on how to set up your own website, and also a section on useful websites for writers. Edited by Barry Turner this is a reference book every type of writer should have on their bookshelf. There is useful information for journalists, writers of all genres, screenwriters, broadcasters and publishers. The book includes addresses and contacts for publishers in the UK, Ireland, ... Everybody has a book in them, it?s a well-known saying, but what about if you have a poem, or a short story, or a magazine article, or even an encyclopaedia, what do you do then? Well my recommendation would be that you run along to your nearest book shop and purchase a copy of ?The Writers Handbook?for that year. For anybody that is thinking about or has already written anything that they would one day like to see published this book will soon become your writer?s bible. It covers every subject that a serious writer would ever require from Publishers to Poetry Presses, National Newspapers to Newsagents; whatever literary field you would like to write in The ... This annual publication is on the same lines as The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook, only without the artists' section. Each are as good as each other and although I usually get the other title, this year just for a change I bought this handbook instead. I was very pleased that I did too. It is slightly cheaper than the other book and is just as jam packed full of essential information for the freelance writer. Contained within you will find writing information, names, addresses and contacts in every section of the media. Whether you only write the odd filler, or you are a professional freelance or author you have to have one of these ... Read the complete review
