Advantages: Packed with info, bang up to date
Disadvantages: So much info - a bit daunting
This annual publication is on the same lines as The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook, only without the artists' section. Each are as good as each other and although I usually get the other title, this year just for a change I bought this handbook instead. I was very pleased that I did too. It is slightly cheaper than the other book and is just as jam packed full of essential information for the freelance writer. Contained within you will find writing information, names, addresses and contacts in every section of the media. Whether you only write the odd filler, or you are a professional freelance or author you have to have one of these updated handbooks every year to keep up to date. Publications change and cease and editors change so often you need to know these things in order to appear professional. Some of the contents of the book include; UK and Irish publishers Poetry Small press publishers UK agents Regional and national newspapers, & magazines Television and radio stations Theatre producers and loads, LOADS more. This type of manual is a must for the inexperienced writer and an indispensible title for the more profficient writter too.
