Advantages: A brillant book that i enjoyed reading so much....
Disadvantages: none.....
One of the most wonderful Victorian-era stories, Emily Brontė's Wuthering Heights, is so strong a novel, it's survived countless abridgements and film versions without losing its beauty. Few of those fine old novels can make that boast, and it's a tribute to Ms. Brontė brilliance that Wuthering Heights is as impressive when seen as when read. The story is about a man called Heathcliff who gets taken in by Earnshaw, who is a brusque Yorkshire farmer and the owner of Wuthering Heights who takes the young Liverpool waif, who he affectionately named Heathcliff, into his home, he instantaneously created the complicated sets of relationships and jealousies that Bronte weaved into the complex Wuthering Heights. As a love grew between young Heathcliff and Catherine, the other Earnshaw child, Hindley, developed a strong hatred for Heathcliff, feeling that he had been supplanted in his father's affections. Upon Mr. Earnshaw's death, Hindley turned on Heathcliff, and because of the maltreatment, Heathcliff became brutal and morose. Then to add to his misery, despite the love he had for Catherine, she too seemingly turned on him and married Edgar Linton. The plot, which further unfolds as Heathcliff planning his revenge on both Edgar Linton and Hindley Earnshaw, is only one important aspect of Wuthering Heights. Others include the complexity of the protagonist, Heathcliff, and the uniqueness of Bronte's unconventional style and structure. I always enjoy reading this book. It takes me back to when i had to read it at school. I had the same problem then as now never wanted to put it down.
