No more rows and rows ... more  ... of "sums" which used to make my heart sink. Oh no…these are child friendly in the extreme. The pages are in colour, and whilst there are problems to solve and activities to complete, not one of the pages looks completely daunting. The style and size of text changes according to where emphasis is needed and there are characters such as Madge Ickspell and Fiona Flumpdonkey adding interest to the pages.

These claim to be the UK's most popular education book, and I don't find that hard to believe; most schools have a copy or copies of some of the texts. CGP claims that its aim is to produce high quality books which are carefully written, immaculately presented and "dangerously close to being funny".
