Advantages: HUMOUROUS WRITING STYLE
Disadvantages: SOME THINGS EXAGERATED
Danny Wallace follows up his successful first book Join Me with this excellent read, YesMan.
The book is based on a supposed true story, though Wallace does admit some things are exaggerated or slightly made up. The plot focuses on Wallace who regularly says no to everything until he meets a man on a bus who tell's him to say yes more. From here Danny Wallace sets out on a challenge to say yes to everything till the end of the year.
Wallace experiences some unbelievable things from saying yes, including travelling all over the world, getting promotions at work and making lots of new friends. However his love life gets complicated and he receives regular emails from someone called the challenger who he believes is trying to destroy his mission.
I love Danny Wallace's writing style, it's easy and full of humour. I found the book to be inspiring as the message is life is here to be lived. The people who he meets along the way also highlight that there are many friendly people in the world. Danny's friends are also funny, but caring towards him when he spirals out of control with his 'yeses'.
At just over four hundred pages and nearly thirty chapters the book really does fly by. The book has also been turned into a movie starring Jim Carrey.
The only negative of the book is that some of it is obviously exaggerated and you don't know how much of the story is the truth.
Overall though, YesMan is a great read and well worth purchasing.
