Helen Dunmore is an author who has won the Orange prize for best novel by a female writer, so when I saw her follow up book, Your Blue-Eyed Boy offered in hardback for £2, I snapped it up. I am always looking for new authors to read and so this was a great chance to experiment a bit. So what was the result? Well lets start with the type of book this is, it is not a fast paced thriller, it is more of a slow paced indulgent novel. By that I mean that Dunmore lingers over her use of language, painting vivid pictures of her characters and the scenarios they find themselves in.
