Advantages: Big improvement on print quality

Disadvantages: Price is pretty steep!

The Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper is a high quality printing paper designed for use with the Epson Inkjet series of printers.

I use an Epson Color 740 printer at home for my printing needs and playing in a band, I often need to print out things such as, covers for demo cds, or posters for our gigs. I like these to be as high quality as possible, but it seems that the normal printer / photocopier paper isn't really up to the job!

Recently I came across this glossy paper in my local WH Smith and thought I would give it a whirl to see if it would improve my print quality.

The paper
The paper is priced at £9.99 for 20 sheets. This is quite a steep price for this limited amount of sheets.

The media weight of the paper is 141 g/m2 and it comes in A4 size. One side of the paper has a glossy surface, with the other side being matt. It is important to print on the glossy side for the best print quality.

This paper is designed to be used for print resolutions up to 1440 dpi, which is more than my printer can do!

In use
The paper is quite thick, but fits through my 740 printer without any jamming problems.

I tried printing an image that used both a photo and black text, and found that the results were a significant improvement over standard printer paper.

This paper is certainly the right choice if you want to produce high quality images! With the print settings at their highest, the quality is very good. Photos are very well defined and black text is very sharp and really stands out well on the page. I would say that the print quality produced with this paper is getting pretty close to that of a colour laserjet, which is impressive considering how much those printers cost!

My only real gripe about this paper, is amount of sheets you get for your money. For £9.99, only 20 sheets is really not very good value! I would have liked to have seen 50 sheets for this money, but a
s with most things in life, I guess you get what you pay for!

After having used this paper, my impression was that I was very pleased with the big improvement in the quality of the documents produced, but that I was paying a pretty steep price for that privilege!

Conclusion
I would recommend this paper to those people who use an inkjet printer, but would like to produce high quality documents. The downside is the cost of the paper, but if you are prepared to pay this price, you will get very good printing results!

Thanks for reading!
