Advantages: Convienient pack of all the required colours, great price!
Disadvantages: Not so good on photo paper.
I believe this is the best way to buy ink; that is, in separate colours, to ensure that ink isn't wasted; when one colour is used a great deal in a printing session, but the others are still full/contain a considerable amount of ink, some printers require you to refill the whole cartridge and through away good ink in the process.
Of course, it depends entirely on the printer you have, which is why I recommend buying an 'Epson' printer, not only does it print well, don't you never have to waste ink again!
When you buy the product you'll notice there are four cartridges; Black, yellow, cyan, magenta. All the same size, and all sealed to ensure that the ink remains intact. Dependent on your printer type, they have a lever for inserting them into the printer which is very simple and easy to do.
The quality of the ink is pretty good. Rarely do I see the ink print those typical faded lines which shows the ink is almost run out, it usually tells you before hand to change the ink. The consistency is good from the start of the print to the finish so you don't have to worry about that. The colours are very vibrant, definitely not faded, and this lasts right up until the cartridge is ready for changing - it's good to know that if the printer hasn't told you to print yet then the piece you are about to print will come out right.
As far as smudging, I have never had any problems. The ink dries incredibly quickly, and there are never any traces of ink on the undersides of the pages where ink has been due to the paper lying on top of each other after each print. Amazingly, when pages have gotten wet, I have never seen any smudges then either! This ink says it's water resistant, and it doesn't lie.
As far as printing photos I'd have to say it isn't as great, the ink does take longer to dry on photo paper, and due to my impatience I have seen photos smudge slightly; so makes sure you leave them for a few moments before picking them up off the printer.
I usually buy this pack from 'Wilkinson's' for around £15; which from my research is a pretty good price for any type of ink!
Having used this product for some years I'll never change to another. I love the fact that I don't ever waste ink, and can buy this set conveniently which includes all the colours I need. I tend to find that the colours yellow, cyan, magenta, last about the same time, and the black not so long, so I find that I never have a stock of one colour building up. If you've got 'Epson' get these cartridges for your printer!
Summary: The best ink I've ever tried, and with all the colours separate you never waste a drop!
