HP Premium Choice
Advantages: High Density Paper
Disadvantages: Not Cheap
Whether is be a washing machine manufacturer recommending a certain detergent or a razor blade manufacturer recommending that you use a certain shaving foam to get the best results from your product, Manufacturer's of printers are no different. As most manufacturer's do, they recommend for the best printing results you should use their brand of paper.
I have never bought into this, however I do use HP Premium Choice Paper with my HP Laserjet printer at home. I don't use it solely due to the fact that I have a HP printer, more so that the paper quality is very good compared to some supermarket brands that I have tried. I like to use a good quality of paper at home as it tends to be letters to companies or relatives that I am writing too.
You can pick the paper up in all good stationary shops. I tend to purchase my paper from PC World and for £4.99 you can get a pack of 250 sheets. The paper itself is 100gsm. For those of you that don't know what gsm is, this is the density of the paper. The higher the gsm, the thicker the paper. Your average office paper is around 80gsm, so the this product has a more high quality, slightly heavier feel to it.
The paper also has a matt finish to it, unlike the glossy finish you would find if you used photo paper. I would therefore not recommend using this paper if you are looking to print photographs. This paper is excellent for both black and coloured ink printing and with it being 100gsm, double sided printing works well too. You may find with some lower density papers that double sided printing will make the paper very wet and the ink may smudge. You can also find that you can see the ink on the other side of the paper too. You don't get this with the HP Premium paper.
Overall, this is a high quality paper. However, you should check with the manufacturer of your printer to see which paper weight is most appropriate for your printer. Using the wrong weight could result in poor printing results no matter how expensive or cheap the paper costs.
