Canon i850 ... and breakthrough speed simultaneously. It delivers output resolution up to an ultra-high 4800 x 1200 color dpi and incredibly fast speeds of up to 22ppm in black and up to 14ppm in color. The i850 printer produces outstanding, photo-lab quality 4" x 6" borderless photos in less than 48 seconds. And when printed on Canon Photo Paper Pro, photos will retain their brilliance for approximately 25 years. The i850 printer also comes with Single Ink technology that combines individual ink tanks with intelligent ink management for ease-of-use and lower printing costs.

The i850 printer introduces a new printhead with a unique combination of 5 picoliter droplets for coverage and ultra-fine 2 picoliter droplets for photo-realism. Achieving this array of reduced droplet sizes is amazing-but it's only half the story. Increased precision is necessary to realize the potential for higher quality printing. The answer: Advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology with an exclusive 1600-nozzle system that can eject approximately 19 million droplets per second. Accuracy and consistency is maintained for maximum resolution and image quality. The i850 printer also has Advanced Precision Color Distribution Technology to virtually eliminate color variance and banding problems typically found with conventional high-speed, bi-directional printing.

... to get cheap ink if you search on the net, ifyou dont be aware the cartridges cost £7.00 each, and if you have kids they last about 3 days (im not kidding !) After a few months I have had problems with banding, and when you change an ink cartridge it can smudge for the first few copies, this is remedied by doing a deep clean (automatic feature) but this uses about half of the ink (yup thats 6 x £7.00 divided by 2) so you dont want to hit that button by mistake ! First let me express my amazement that no one in Dooyoo has yet reviewed this printer, which has been available in the States since end September 2002 and which I received only yesterday March 19th, 2003. This is explained by the delay that all new hardware encurs between its launch on the US market and its launch on the EU market. This delay seems to go hand in hand with a higher price. To illustrate the time gap the Canon i850 became available in February 2003 in France and this month of March in Belgium and Holland. I purchased this printer several months ago, and have been extremely pleased with its performance ever since. I looked at the various offerings from HP, Epson and Lexmark as well, and decided upon the Canon i850 as the perfect choice. I was looking for an all-round printer, that could cope with a small-business workload (I have plenty of college work to do, and my mum is an Avon Team Leader) without costing the earth in consumables. I bought this Canon photo printer after I ditched the Epson one I had for 7 months. This is an excellent printer. It's so quiet when it's printing. When it's making a photo quality print the noise is barely audible, unlike my previous Epson printer which was very noisy. This Canon printer even has a separate 'quiet' facility to use at night but it hardly seems like it needs it. This printer works with almost no noise at all! It's also very fast, again easily 4-5 times faster than Epson at printing the same things. Photo quality prints are fast tracked through and the quality is superb.
