I'm sure there was another cause for this. ...

Lizzad AMD Athlon XP 2400+ / 2 GHz
... processor is FAST. I have noticed significant processing power from anything from watching photoshop open much more quickly to my frame rates basically maxing out on counterstrike and several other games. My computer can now truly complete multiple tasks at once, such as playing DVD's while transfering files, surfing the net, while also running photoshop. This processor is capable of running most of your application needs without any problems. However, it is important to note that this processor does not run at 2.4ghz as perhaps assumed, it runs at 2.01ghz so it is comparable to a P4 2.0ghz. AMD has been known to outperform Pentium at common tasks such as offi...

... you are after that little bit extra performance from your computer. Thoughts go one of either two ways. 1) Buy a new PC, 2) Upgrading. The first option can be expensive, but you do get a nice new shiny PC, which will almost definitely be faster/better/newer etc. But by upgrading your current system, better performance can be achieved with much less expenditure. Often first thoughts turn to the processor, and rightly so. After all the processor is the main "brain" behind your computer. This review/guide will help you with a processor upgrade. When considering an upgrade, as a general rule of thumb, if you need to upgrade more than 3 or 4 co...

John+Navarre Intel Celeron Processors in general
... pretty sure Celeron doesn't try to compete with AMD K2-6. AMD K2-6 is supposed to be a pentium II grade. In my mind though I figured a 1.8Ghz Celeron would at least be faster than 533 AMD K2-6. MY experience proved otherwise and it's just a shame. My wife plays The Sims and several expansions of it and The Sims Online. She had trouble getting video and sound drivers that were compatible with with Direct X 8.1, and we needed a new computer anyhow. Slow, Slow, Slow. After transfering all her sims files to the new computer she found the drivers she needed and had to transfer it all back. She just couldn't scroll or move around fast enough to play t...
