Intel Pentium 4 570J 3.8 GHz:
... 12/11/2009, this processor would reach 5 years old. 5 years is a very, very long time in computers - almost a lifetime, certainly 2 generations. Yet this processor still holds a record in the Intel consumer retail release - it is the fastest EVER clock frequency. At 3.8Ghz, or 3800Mhz it is still to be beaten in today s world of 2, 3 or 4 cores. But is it really that good? Is high frequency really the way forward?... AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ / 3 GHz ... this processor is a little old now I still use it in my pc, and it can cope with some modernish games at medium resoultion (also depedent on having a good graphics card). I think it is a good value dual core processor, compatible in several of the motherboards I own. Dual core processors are designed to cope with Multi tasking and the 6000+ is no exception. I find that I can watch tv, surf the internet and encode video all at the same time. It was a good upgrade from my 2ghz single core processor with a noticable increase in speed for any task. It was easy to install in my motherboard and the supplied fan seems adequate to cool the processor, as it has never gav... Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3 GHz ... Over-clocker! The E0 stepping version of this CPU is a PC enthusiasts wet dream! These little beauties, with the right mobo, over-clock brilliantly. You do not have to push the VCore to far at all to jump straight to 4GHz. I ran one of these in my old rig for nearly a year, overclocked at just a touch over 4GHz. VCore around 1.36v, it would have gone higher but I was limited by the cooler I was using at the time. As time progresses the quad core will take over, and more and more games and apps will be coded with multi-threading in mind but at the moment these CPU s still punch well above their weight. This is a cracking CPU for a second rig or media centre PC. Overc... Read the full review: A tweakers dream! by hallryu |

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 / 3 GHz ... i7 and i5 become more popular it is going to be hard to Intel to justify the price tag on this top performer in the Core 2 Quad range. I would like to see these drop in price. However, if they don t this is still a fantastic performer. I have owned one of these for a few months now. If you are into over-clocking these CPU s are a dream to play with. I recommend a good P45 board for this processor. The enthusiasts top favourite is possibly the Gigabyte P45-UD3R or P45-UD3P. Couple one of these with a good Q9650 and you can be running at 4GHz with a VCore around 1.25-1.3v. On my X48-DS4 I have a VCore of 1.381v for a 4GHz over-clock (Expect higher VCore on an X48 board... Read the full review: Q9650 great s775 CPU by hallryu |
